Chapter 2: The Dormant Period

Date: Summer, 1996

This is the Dormant Period, right? That would seem to mean that nothing happened, right?

Wrong. Psychic Water enjoyed a short-lived spurt of playing in and out.

SiMent just sat on thier asses. Well... Brian did.

SiMent did almost nothing, save one show. Their first show.

Dave reminises:

"The band managed to play thier first show in Kevin May's basement sometime in August. Ralph used a milk crate and a garbage pail for a snare stand. He wasn't very happy about Dave forgetting the snare stand. I remember about four or five people there. At least that, cause they wouldn't all fit on the one couch comfortably. Kevin had the whole floor. That night also marked the first (and only) time the whole band has slept together. The three of us fit on Kevin's pullout, and Kevin had the whole floor. All to himself. This night marked the creation of "The Fugue in Eb" as well. After we had finished our set proper, we turned the lights out, and the disco ball on. I asked for a random note. Amy Rashan yelled out "E FLAT!" and we all made a nice happy song in Eb. It's not a fugue, but fugue certainly is a cool word."
