12.12.00The album's about halfway done now. We've got Britney, Inside Your Head.. oops. We don't wanna spoil it, or anything, now do we? Working in the studio is trying. We work our arses off until at least 3am if not 5am every Friday night, and we get great results. Mad props to our engineer / co-producer Mr. Bryan Schwartz. He's doing an excellent job, and we even have a new yacht lined up for him when the album's done (shh.. don't tell him)!!!
So you've heard about the date change, eh? Well, still come to Laszlo's on January 5th, cause there's gonna be lots going on. Rumour has it, we're giving everyone there (yes, giving) some free music.. and it may even be OUR music! Also, a thrilling SiMent multimedia experience (not quite IMAX caliber, but still thrilling) shall be unveiled there. Also, a special suprise that we just can't tell you. You'll have to come and see.
Ralph shall also re-vamp our website this coming month or so, so be on the lookout for some mad style comin' your way.

Happy Thanksgiving! And happy every other holiday we've neglected to wish you since the 6th of September. SiMent has been very busy recording their much anticipated first full-length release. As it stands right now, it's looking like a spring-time completion and release for the record. However, we've got some good news...
1) SiMent will be hosting their first ever Xmas show at Lazlo's on December 22nd. Joining on in rocking the yule will be Showcase, Amnesty Underground, and Vinnie's Address. So let's rock out the holidays and join us for connecticut's best coffee, some of CT's best bands, and what we'll guarantee is the coolest show of the Christmas season (well, except for John Valby.. if you see him, he's damn funny.) And to entice you even further to come see us play in our first area appearance in about 4 months..
2) We'll be giving a very special gift to those of you who come. Rumor has it since SiMent's been locked away in the studio, they are ready to share a couple of songs with you (happily provided on compact-disc format) that are a result of this foray into recording..
More info to come. Keep checkin' back.. yeah!

It’s been a while, so we’ll try recapping in iambic pentameter. Or maybe just chronological free verse.
We played the Oyster Festival. We played Early. We played on a loud big ass PA. What a beautiful day it was. We saw Weezer @ The Stone Pony in New Jersey. To anyone from Asbury Park: Are there any houses in your town?Or just run down motels? What a show, though! We lost the SiMent/Saffron softball extravaganza.. by a score of 27-23!But, we did win the hearts of many, as we someone took a lead in the 1st inning and held it until the top of the 9th. SiMent doesn’t just know how to rock, they can also execute a great run-down and hit the cut off man! Thanks to Saffron (we miss you already) and everyone who came.. and especially Kev for the afterparty!!! Umm, and sorry to his neighbors for the horribly loud, obnoxious renditions of “sweet home alabama” and “fight for your right (to party).”We didn’t mean it. Really. Pictures from the summer soon, we promise. SiMent somehow wakes up the next day to trek to Providence to see Weezer again @ Lupo’s. Crazy night, Crazy show. Ralph’s powder blue soccer-mom-mobile breaks down.SiMent now needs a big car. :o( We did not win, or place in the Advocate’s Grand Band Slam. Other people did, though. 2 members of the band return to school.. and 2 two their jay-oh-bees.And all four head off to the studio to record the full-length album…And by the way, check out Ralph’s little bro’s band, Vinnie’s Address, at their Toad’s Place debut on September 21st…

SiMent/Saffron World Tour Wrap-Up
A *huge* thanks to everyone who came out to support both us and Saffron this weekend for our first world tour. (If you haven't checked out Saffron's new CD, "3 out of 4", well.. you should!) Jimmy's Seaside was a blast on Friday -- and on Saturday, we may possibly have set a record for "Most people ever convened in a small coffee shop"! We've never seen a crowd so big and so enthusiastic at Laz's.. a special thanks to Laz for having us play (and out-bench-pressing us), to Amnesty Underground for a spectacular set of unbridled crazniess (and for the afterparty space!), and for anyone who came to the show and supported one of the only all-ages venues in the area who give die-hard support to local musicians and artists. Remember to stop in there and get some coffee if you're ever around Monroe! So put on your pirate hats and grab the steel wool, 'cuz this Saturday is the Oyster Festival, and a mere 7 days from that the SiMent/Saffron softball game. We shall leave you with just one thing: we love world tours. <Note: Appropriate personel at SiMent and Saffron headquarters, respectively, are working on actually making the world bigger. This will require expanding the "world" from it's current dimensions, which include the stretch of mileage between Stamford and Monre, to a larger area, possibly including the area known as "Canada." Updates to follow. Also, SiMent would like to mention that it is still raining.

Vote for us in the New Haven Advocate's Grand Band Slam 2000! We've been nominated in the "Hard Rock" category. We don't know why. However, if you feel this is a just misclassification, you can write us in in the "Pop" or "Rock" categoryies, yes. Heck, actually you can do whatever you want. There's no stopping you. Just don't spam the ballot box, for they will not like that. And you can even vote us for "Prettiest Band" at the bottom of the ballot.. wouldn't that be nice! Also, vote for all your other favorite new haven area bands. So go. Go now! Vote! I bet this ballot attracts more votes then the september election does.

It seems our dear friends Saffron have chalenged us to a more then friendly game of softball! Join our team, which may be referred to as "Quite possibly, The Best Team (of goofy, retarded, fun-loving, sarcastic non-softball players) Ever Assembled (well, slightly assembled, more like loosely coordinated), Quite Possibly." (Notice the period BEFORE the quotation ends, since SiMent endorses proper punctuation, which will quite possibly help us win the softball game. Interest people (read as: those good as softball, or even those good at throwing [we're desperate]), please contact us at mailsiment@usa.net to register yourself for the game! Details: August 26th, field to be determined. Don't worry, it won't be far away. And don't forget, we're playing in the Battle of the Bands @ Little City Cafe in Middletown next Thursday, August 3rd! And Saffron plays Stash's in New London on August 4th. Go see us on the 3rd to cheer, and them on the 4th to practice the taunting that will immediately follow our glorious victory! Their message is below...
In other news, Look at Yourself is currently ranked #710 in the Power Pop Charts and #73755 overall on MP3.com. Hmmm.
To: SiMent
...
Remember this feeling because after the 1st annual SiMent/Saffron softball game you won't be smiling. You may think that you are going up against "Saffron" but what we really are are "Quite Possibly, The Best Team Ever Assembled".

You're all crazy! Thanks to each and every one of you who came out to Toad's place this past Friday and rocked with us. We couldn't possibly have had a better time or a better audience.. the screaming in between songs was awesome! We hope our thanks to you all for showing up (aka: the shirts, the songs, the tootsie rolls!) accurately displayed our gratitude. We also got to see a great new band in the Weigh Down, and a nice semi-accoustic set from Anne Heaton to start things off for the night. We've got a couple weeks off for now, but watch out in August because we're going to be busy! Things roll off August 3rd @ Little City in Middletown, participating in the battle of the bands for a big prize. We're up against some tough competition, however -- The Kelvins, Mr. Superlove, and Aloha Steamtrain, to name a few. So if you're 21+, head on down, we could definately use the support. We then move to the August 11/12 "mini-tour" with the lovable Saffron (adding Amnesty Underground as our esteemed colleagues for the latter of those dates - check them out at City Limits July 28th) @ Jimmy's Seaside in Stamford, and Lazlo's in Monroe, respectively. And we're working on finalizing a date for what looks to be the 1st annual SiMent Vs. Saffron softball game/ BBQ extravaganza.. basically, we all play softball, followed by a "smashing" set of SiMent and Saffron tunes. More to come on that (though we know for sure it will be late August, and definately a saturday or sunday), but if you're interested give a shout out to mailsiment@usa.net. Especially if you're good at softball. We wanna win!! That is all for now.. see you in August, and thanks for all the continued support. It's really cool to see everyone singing along out there!!!
