The CD Release party was a success! No thanks to those of you who went, that is. If you've gotten far enough to read this, you've probably seen the panorama on the opening page. Yes, you DO rock.
We're currently applying for several showcases and booking other shows around the state, so we'll keep you updated as always.
If you haven't yet gotten a copy of the CD, you can buy a copy at Cutler's CDs in New Haven for the same $10 you would've paid at the show. We can also sell you a copy if you email us at sales@siment.net.
Also, don't forget to keep requesting us at the local radio stations:

Where did the fall go? Yeah, we didn't see it either. We thought we saw something that looked like spring go by, but it went a little too fast for us to really tell. Strange.
Well, the band celebrated its 6th anniversary! We're old! And to prove it, look at some of our old pictures, and then look at some of the newer ones!
BIG NEWS! You may or may not have heard of our CD release party at Toad's Place! Our first show of 2002 will be on the 10th of January at Toad's Place in New Haven, and boooooooy are we excited!
We'll be selling copies of our brand new CD (hot off the presses) entitled "do you like me?". The show will be free for 21+ patrons, and about $8 for the kiddies (we can say that because we're all at least 21 now). The deal is as follows:
For the 21+ people who got in free, the CDs will be the normal $10 a pop, and for those of you who had to pay your admission, they will be only $5. Good deal, eh? Oh, and anyone over 75 gets a free CD. SiMent: We appreciate the elderly.
So, the CD is being pressed right now. It's quite a load off our shoulders, as they were carrying the weight and anxiety of making and (more importantly) funding a big pressing like this. I'm positive you will all be impressed with the final product. The final tracklist is as follows:
Porn Star / The Rebound Song / Look At Yourself / Britney / How To Speak / She Said, He Said / Ali Toro / Stupid / Anything For You / In Your Arms
There you have it -- ten tracks of power pop/rock (or whatever you feel like labeling it). As the date of release draws nearer, we will have the full-length tracks available to stream via our mp3.com page. We will also put up two more songs on mp3.com that didn't quite make it to the album, but still were completed: PhD (in love), and Inside Your Head.
Yesterday, we held a very productive rehearsal yielding two new completed songs: "Erin, don't walk away", and (currently the leader in 'Longest Song Title') "Niether of us knew what I was trying to say". Needless to say, we will be very excited about debuting these songs (among others) on January 10th.
Those of you on our mailing list will be getting some special holiday presents, and those of you who aren't on our mailing list better sign the hell up so we can send YOU some special holiday presents.
Happy Holidays from your pals from SiMent!

More radio reports coming in! We've had reports of Porn Star being played on Spinning Unrest on Radio 104!
Also, do contact radioboston.com and tell them to play our songs! Phone number is 617-776-1717, and email ej@radioboston.com!
We just got back from Northampton, Mass for the weekend. We played a very unexpected garage birthday party show right before we left, so special thanks to Will here in Milford for having us! We all spent a nice relaxing weekend and played a set on Sunday afternoon in a very strange venue that used to be a gaudy hotel, but is now nothing more than gaudy.
We put new lyrics to "Freak me out" online, seeing as that song made its way into our regular set list.
You probably noticed the new picture on the opening page, but there's also some other new pictures scattered about the site. Namely, part of a possible album cover idea on the discography page.
Saturday, December 1st has been confirmed for the first ever Vitamin Tramp show. Definitely not SiMent, but rather Ralph, Dave, and some other friends. Definitely not loud distorted rock guitars, but soft, soothing acoustic guitars among other instruments. Come join us, and some of our more musical friends for a caffienated evening of good song.
More SiMent shows are being booked right now!

Sorry about the temporary downtime of our site, but it's obviously fixed now so you all can rejoice by dancing around a fire weilding big sticks.
We've added some pictures to our photo section, and there's a LOT more where that comes from.
We'll be sending out advance copies of our CDs to local radio stations this week. We've already gotten several reports of people hearing "Britney" on WNHU as well as Radio 104 (WMRQ). Below is a list of radio stations and names of people who work there that you can bother to request our songs! It would probably make a lot more sense to call during that radio station's local band show, by the way. You (of the internet generation) can usually email these people to request a song, too!
More places to request us are on the way!
Our Northampton show has been confirmed, along with another WPI date! Check here for more info!

One month in the life of SiMent:
We debuted a new song, "Freak Me Out" at Walnut Beach Day. We think you'll like!
Our debut album, "do you like me?" has been officially named.
The audio has been mastered (by Mr. Chris McCarvill at SkyPod studios.. highly recommended) to true high-fidelity.
The release date has been set for December 20th, 2001. A CD release party will be announced as the date draws near.
The band gave up the 2nd annual SiMent/Saffron softball game to Saffron. Hey, we didn't want to make those girls cry. What can we say? We're just nice guys...
Dave and surrogate roadie and all-around band friend, Joe took a twelve-day cross-country trip -- in the process, defacing the great arch in St. Louis with a SiMent sticker (picture's on the way). They both got back just in time...
We completely rocked out in Worcester (bet no one has ever said that before) with the opportunity to open for American Hi-Fi. We played WPI's first sold out concert in 26 years, in front of a sea of eager ears. Mucho thanks for our Connecticut friends coming up to represent! The show went extremely well, and we got to play with a fellow Connecticut band, Overlook -- check them out!
Song samples are now up! Go to our mp3.com page and download thirty seconds of every one of our twelve tracks on our forthcoming album!
And Dave got a really short haircut. More aerodynamic by far.
We have a tentative date at the 2001 Northampton Music Festival, so we'll let you know!

The album is mixed! Happy day!
We're getting this sucker mastered in the next couple of weeks and then Mr. Duplication House, I'd like you to meet this band here called SiMent. We're going to be nice friends, I assure you. We're gearing up for our softball game next Sunday. We almost have a full team, so if you'd like to play, let us know.
Immediately following the game will be an after party of sorts, with the official listening party of the new album.
Any day now, 30-second sound "bytes" (hee hee) from our forthcoming album shall be available on our mp3.com site, so keep checking that for a good sampling of what we've got to offer.
We've graciously accepted the offer to open for American Hi-fi in Worcester, so if you can make it up there, please do so -- it's likely to sell out. Check out the tour page for details.

Progress is progressing. Wait, does that make sense?
I think you catch our drift. As of right this second, there are 8 out of 12 songs mixed, and another two shall be completed tomorrow. I'm writing this between vigorous drives between Worcester, Mass and home (Milford, CT). Vigorous, you ask? Why yes. EVERYONE on the Mass Pike and I-84 drives a minimum of 75. If you're going less than 80, people are shooting by you. And probably flipping you off, too. But, I digress.
Mixing is going very well. It will conclude one week from tomorrow, and that's still difficult to swallow. We've been working on this baby for so long, it seems like we know no other way. We're all very pleased with the results we've been hearing, and we're sure you will agree. If you ever hear it, that is! HAHA! We'll let you hear it. We promise. Oh yeah, and more exciting pictures are on the way.
In the process of rehearsal tonight, we completed a new song entitled "Freak Me Out" and toyed around with a "jam" tentatively titled "New Strings" -- It's just a code name, that's all.
Any second now (perhaps even right now), there are five new audio downloads on our mp3.com site (click "MP3s on the left side of the screen). The five songs now online are recorded live from our first show of the year at the now late Lazslo's Arts Cafe in Monroe. We decided to upload some "rarities", or "stuff that didn't exactly make the album." The songs are as follows: "I Don't Know", "Look At Yourself", "Lying To Myself" (with Anne Clampet of Saffron), "Stupid", "In Your Arms", and Weezer's "Yore Sister (The Sister Song)."
And last but not least (if you're on our mailing list, you've already heard), we have big news! Come one, come all up to Worcester (why do we spend so much goddamn time there?!?), Mass on August 31st, to see SiMent and American Hi-fi rock the school known as WPI. We're very excited for this show, and promise to put on a full rock spectacle.

Ahh mixing! We just ordered lunch. Bryan's going with the sushimi (the Chef's selection of raw fish), and I'm going with the very safe beef teriyaki. At this moment the album is 1/3 of the way mixed. By the end of today, it will be 1/2 done (good thing I remembered how fractions work). Luckily, time is flying. Today, he and I will mix Anything For You, and Britney. Yesterday, due to some freak accident, Bryan couldn't make it up here to Worcester because of a prior engagement, leaving Ralph, Brian, and I to mix Ali Toro, and In Your Arms, which both came out well.
As I sit here, Bryan's finding the differences between the sound of the song on headphones and on traditional speaker monitors. There is a spectacular display of colored red and green lights jumping around in time to our music. The two of us work out elaborate rehearsals of button pushing and knob turning.
We've found we cannot mix more than two songs a day, else our ears get unreliable, and which point, the songs don't sound quite right. And we can't have that, now can we?
-Dave

Omigod! Ok, three orders of business for this news update!
#1) We've got a mixing schedule down -- we will begin in a week! That's right! July 1st we start mixing, and the album will be out two months ago! Isn't that weird? We've also found an outlet to have the album mastered, and we're just about decided on a duplicating house. Things are progressing in our little world of recorded audio.
For those of you who've downloaded The Rebound Song, or have got the two-song sampler: We've added things to both songs since the version you have, which means both songs will get a full re-mix, making them sound even better. Cool. eh?
#2) We've added a bunch of pictures in the photo section chronicling our nine-month stint of tracking for the album. I'm sure we'll be able to provide you loads more pictures of us looking bored off our asses for the upcoming mixing schedule soon.
#3) The second annual SiMent/Saffron softball game has been scheduled for Sunday, August 12th, 2001 at a field in Milford. If anyone's interested in being on our team, drop us a line at mailsiment@usa.net. It's good times for all!
What's going on in the life of SiMent, anyways?
- Ralph - Accepted a job offer at a big scary corporation called Empirix in Massachusetts! Congrats!
- Brian - Working at Milford Hospital as a cardiovascular surgeon.
- Dave - Helping the ladies of Saffron out at certain shows as backup guitarist, and starting a new side project with the ex-Fryalators as the drummer. The working title of the band is "Lisa Soccerhead."
- Jay - Business is booming for Dreamscape Photography Studio LLC! Go Jay!
6.01.01Happy June, all!
Know what? The album is pretty much done. We're still having a tough time believing it all. That's right, except for a few choice vocal parts, and parts from guest musicians, we're done with the recording process. Of course, we still have about a sporadic month of mixing ahead of us.
This Sunday night, we'll be convening with a four-piece horn section consisting of Stacy and Ben (formerly of the Fryalators), Audra (friend of the band), and our very own Brian who's going to try and remember how to play his saxaphone. Also present (hopefully), will be some of Saffron. With any luck, Sun will bring her cello down to complete "In Your Arms."
Mixing will most likely occur within the next month and a half. Know what happens then? You get a copy of the album!
